Hello readers and welcome back!
When you're invited to an event, and if you're like me, the first thought that comes to mind is "food!" I’m not sure if it's just me, but there's something about food at a gathering that makes you hungry. Even if you've had a large breakfast beforehand, the moment you arrive, you feel ravenous.
For our wedding we went with a buffet, we wanted a sit-down buffet due to the multiple dishes that comes with it and still be able to have our guest sitting down an organised just like a sit down mean however we couldn't find a caterer who supplied the service in my area. (another reason we had to create S&V Event Vendors).
Nonetheless, let's dive right in!
Buffet

Pros
It's cost effective
Several dish options
Most times guest can eat as much as they like
Not as restrictive
Eat at your own pace and time
Great for especially informal events but also formal as they now offer a sit-down buffet where they bring potion sized dishes at your table and you can serve yourself
Cons
It can be quite disorderly.
Lining up for food is not really what we consider elegant, especially at a black-tie event.
There can easily be food wastage.
Recently, when I posted this question and wanted to pique people’s brains, someone mentioned how unsanitary it can be if people are serving themselves, which is something I never thought of. But on the other hand, self-serving can also cut your costs on staffing, and I am sure there can be measures to take in ensuring hygiene is maintained!
Sit-down meal

Pros
Very organized and well-suited for formal events.
Aesthetically pleasing is the trend nowadays, and the presentation that comes with a sit-down meal is usually Pinterest-worthy.
Most times, guests can pre-order, which is quite pleasant as you would know exactly what you will be eating!
Usually, courses are served roughly at the same time; therefore, everyone eats at the same time.
Cons
As expected, the above also results in the cons.
The luxury look and feel of a sit-down meal comes at a high cost.
The food options are limited.
Also, according to Berry Blue Creative Food, people don't eat at the same time as the service is slow, which is a new take for me but valid. I guess this statement just depends on many things, and the outcome varies based on those many things.
So that's it readers! which one would you go for? I have also added a few links below if you are interested in reading more on this topic !
Until next time Readers!
